Estimate your 2026 VA disability compensation using official rates effective December 1, 2025. This calculator handles combined ratings using the VA “whole-person” formula, bilateral factor per 38 CFR §4.26, dependent add-ons (spouse, children, parents), SMC levels K through R2/T, and a roadmap showing exactly what additional rating gets you to the next tier.

Enter each service-connected condition and its rating percentage below. If any conditions affect paired limbs — both arms and/or both legs — tap the BL chip to apply the bilateral factor correctly.

Disabilities

Add each service-connected rated condition

⚖️ Bilateral factor: tap the BL chip on any condition affecting a paired limb (both arms and/or both legs). The VA adds 10% to the combined value of those paired conditions before combining with the rest — applied automatically when 2+ are marked.

Dependents (Optional)

30%+ rating required for dependent pay

Special Monthly Compensation (Optional)

Extra pay for severe disabilities

⚠️ SMC levels L–R2 replace your base rating pay. SMC-K and SMC-S are added to your base pay. Select only one main level (L through R2/T) if applicable.

How VA Combined Rating Math Works

1
Start with 100% whole person efficiency.
2
Apply highest rating first. 50% disability = 50% efficient remaining.
3
Each next rating applies to remaining efficiency — not to 100%.
4
VA rounds final value to nearest 10% (values ending in 5+ round up).
5
Dependents add a flat monthly dollar amount at 30%+ ratings only — not a % increase.
